Best Binge-Worthy Shows on Netflix!

Bored alone on a Saturday night?
Need new shows for your next Netflix & chill? 😜
Game of Thrones just ended so you have no idea what to watch next?

Let me show you my favorite binge-worthy shows on Netflix!

13 Reasons Why is my absolute favorite original Netflix show. If you love drama and mystery, this is what you NEED in your life. The show is centered around Hannah Baker and the mysterious tapes that she left after committing suicide. Each tape represents a different person that has aided to why she ultimately took her young life.

It speaks about the issues we face in society like rape, jock culture, bullying, suicide, school shooters, anxiety, loneliness, the lack of privacy for nudes and so much more. As the show just aired it's third season it has moved away from the original storyline, but the message is still impactful. The youth deal with so many problems, insecurities, and hardships that adults seemingly know nothing about. If we do tell them, we're usually met with a dismissive attitude or . . .when they decide to care, it might be a little too late.

Take a peek into Hannah's story, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Black Mirror is groundbreaking, it's like a modern day Twilight Zone. Each episode is a different story, different actors and a different freaky phenomenon. This isn't a kid-friendly show by any means, don't be confused by that latest Miley Cyrus episode. 🙄 It plays off of our societal problems in the most suspenseful, techy, and satirical way.

For a show like this, I recommend just watching it. A description wouldn't do it justice, you have to immerse yourself in the twisted Black Mirror universe with no expectations.

The Umbrella Academy is one weird, exciting, trippyyy show. Enter a rich billionaire, Sir Hargreeves who adopts 7 children that seemingly have magical powers. He creates the Academy to prepare them to "save" the world, but events of the past tore their "family" apart. Fast forward to the present in their adult life- as everyone returns to the Academy for Hargreeves' death, we watch as things begin to unravel.

As new information comes to light and an ally from the past returns- the remaining 6 children are left to piece together this mystery. The most unsuspecting enemy rises, forcing them to work together once more to ultimately save humanity from the end of the world.

Discover their unique superpowers and the mysteries from their childhood. Oh yeah, Mary J. Blige is one of the bad guys and wasn't. . terrible. Shocking, I know 🤯

A Series of Unfortunate Events gave me pure nostalgia, all my childhood memories came back. This show was based off of the popular children's book- the poor unfortunate lives of the Baudelaire orphans and the schemes of Count Olaf who stops at nothing to get their fortune.

This amazing show is not to be confused with the terrible rushed 2004 movie with Jim Carrey. This Netflix shows dedicates each episode (or 2) to the books released in the series. It shows us all the vivid details that his movie lacked, and really makes you build up sympathy and sadness for the Baudelaire children.

Another show filled with drama, mystery, and humor- perfect to binge-watch as the final season just aired. Once you finish the entire series, stop by an ACTUAL bookstore and take a look at the books (apparently it's rare for people these days).

*Honorable Mentions*

I know everyone is going to judge me here but I'm not a fan of Stranger Things. I know the whole world is obsessed with it, but I finished Season 1 and couldn't bring myself back. I have so much respect for those amazing child actors though!

Orange is the New Black is another favorite of mine! The show just aired the final season in July, which is still hard to accept. This show has spoken for itself over the years, winning 4 Emmy awards. Piper and the gang will be missed!

Guilty Pleasures

My British Baking Show- okay okay don't judge me. It's so therapeutic watching these home cooks come up with different cakes, bread creations, pastries and other things I know I shouldn't be eating.

You is so deliciously dark and chilling- the story of a charming bookstore owner having a seemingly innocent crush turns evil. . . very quickly.

Aggretsuko is the first cartoon I've mentioned, but is in no way meant for children. We are taken through the daily stressful life of a timid female animal (based in human settings), who can only release her anger through screamo-rage in karaoke. Sounds weird, but try watching ONE episode you may like it.
