My All-Time Favorite Singers!

Music is so powerful.

Honestly, life would be 10x more boring without it.

If I forget to charge my AirPods, I'll be suffering on a commute with annoyingly loud high schoolers, screaming babies and t.m.i. conversations.

But with so many copy-cat artists, who's worth listening too anymore?

Let me enlighten you.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter

I mean do I even need to say more? This woman has dominated the music scene since the wee days of Destiny's Child. At 5 years old I didn't know what the hell a bugaboo was or being bootylicious but I loved it anyway.

Now I've been blessed with the chance to see Queen Bey in concert 3 times- the Beyoncé Experience, the Mrs. Carter World Tour and the ICONIC Formation World Tour. Beyonce is the Michael Jackson of our generation- she has insane vocals, dancing (in heels at all times hunny), passion, and talent.

On top of it all, she continuously supports and encourages the black community. The Lemonade album was groundbreaking- it was so unapologetically black. Her dancers, crew, background singers, her message- coming from someone of such a magnitude of fame was inspiring.

SZA

Solana is a magical, ethereal unproblematic goddess. A proven fact. Her voice is like butter- so smooth and light on your ears. I've also been blessed to see SZA live in NYC for her Ctrl Tour, I paid for those VIP tickets and got the chance to meet her up close. As much as I would love to include that pic, I looked a hot mess 🤣 See below for a chance to cleanse your ears with her amazing live performance:

BLACKPINK

Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa

To all my Kpop fans (who probably just skipped to this section haha)- some of the absolute best groups came out of YG Entertainment like 2NE1, Big Bang, Lee-Hi. There's just something about BlackPink that drew me in, besides the flawless vocals- their stylists are freaking amazing. The girls, like most of YG's groups usually have simple yet effective choreography with Lisa and Rose killinggg it every time.

I know k-pop isn't everyone's cup of tea but just try it. You might even surprise yourself. . .then you know, end up with a secret kpop Spotify playlist that you can never escape.

My ultimate bias is Jennie - with my JenLisa ship thriving.

Ed Sheeran

This ginger haired genius is basically a master songwriter and guitarist. I witnessed him completely silence the crowd and sing acapella in Madison Square Garden for the X Tour. We all stood there in complete awe as this man had no dancers, no background singers, no foooncy tour outfit- just a guitar and his voice. And it was all he needed.

Marina Diamandis

Formerly known as Marina & the Diamonds, this amazing woman has a special place in my musical heart. She's reinvented herself and her sound so many times, giving us so many different versions of what her talent is capable of. Her voice is ethereal and somewhat haunting (in the best possible way), with an actual weighted message behind each song.

I admire her for so many different reasons, but her transformation into Marina through her music has been so inspiring.

I watched her in all her FROOT glory at Governor's Ball in 2015. I never thought I would get the chance to see her live and I bought those VIP tickets JUST to see her. And sure enough I made it to center stage, first row and it was everything I expected it would be.
